August Rush is a really good movie.  Plus Jonathan Rhys Meyers is in it!!!  Although, it's probably not even playing in theaters anymore in the U.S. considering the ridiculous delay that plagues most American movies that are released in Europe.

Most importantly, when does the new season of the Tudors start?!

And are The Office writers still on strike?  I feel so disconnected from the world.  Or at least American pop-culture.

    STRIKE!
We probably should have made a post about this yesterday, but most of you know anyway:

ANN MARIE AND I ARE ON STRIKE THIS WEEK (and perhaps even longer if necessary).

We are not making ANY plans this week because you guys ALWAYS rely on the two of us to make plans and we are sick of it.  So this week is your chance to prove that you guys are actually capable of making plans too!  Awesome!  I look forward to being TOLD what's going on instead of getting a million calls/texts after an 8 hour work day asking "What's going on tonight?"  I DON'T FUCKIN' KNOW...you tell me. ; D

PS - Not doing anything all week is not an option.

She never was brought back into the boardroom (never was close to being fired) throughout the entire season and she's sexy too!  Most importantly, she showed you don't have to be loud and obnoxious to be a great leader.  = )

THREE DAYS GRACE AT THE VERIZON - Part 2
    UPDATE

My dad ended up buying tickets for the Three Days Grace concert at the Verizon Wireless Arena on TUESDAY MAY 15th.  He got eight tickets (I don't know why...) and by my count there are seven of us who want to go: Jacob, Jenn, Charles (Dippel), Samwell, Lenza, Nichole, and me!

Anyway, the seats aren't great but they aren't horrible...they are in the upper section but shouldn't be too far back.  And they were $35 each after all the fees etc.  So you guys can just pay me the money whenever you see me next (which for some of you may be the day of the concert!).  You can either pay cash or make a check out to me or my dad (Kevin Duffy, lol).   Sadly, we do not accept credit or debit cards. = P

SO GET EXCITED...cuz it's gonna be WICKED AWESOME!

THREE DAYS GRACE AT THE VERIZON
So I know I haven't posted in a while, but this is VERY important.

I just discovered that THREE DAYS GRACE will be playing at the Verizon Wireless Arena on TUESDAY MAY 15th.  Breaking Benjamin and Puddle of Mudd will be opening for them.  Tickets will be less than $40 (after adding in TicketMaster fees).

SO, who wants to go with me?!?!

    RESPOND ASAP.

SO EXCITED! = D  I got a glimpse of them performing live when they opened for Nickelback, but unfortunately I only saw them perform like two songs cuz we were late and they went on first...before Breaking Benjamin cuz stupid Breaking Benjamin is apparently from Philadelphia so that means they get to go second even though Three Days Grace is way better and way more popular! Haha.

Anyway, let's go to the concert, it will be AWESOME!

    Damn Straight.
Your Driving Is is: 72% Male, 28% Female

According to studies, you generally drive like a typical male.
You're confident in your driving skills, and hardly any situation gets the better of you.
And while you may have a few tickets under your belt, you're still a very good driver.

Deal or No Deal is back baby!  And boy did it come back in style!  That was one crazy episode tonight.  I still can't believe the guy had the three million dollars in his case!  What are the odds?

Perhaps it was rigged?  Because it really turned out to be a perfect episode for the season premiere.

Apparently it's NOT always sunny in Philadelphia
I am currently at gate 15 (moved us from 11)of Manchester airport because my plane is now delayed from a departure time of NOON to 4:15!  And all because of RAIN in Philly that screwed up the Philadelphia International Airport so badly that there are major delays???  Wtf mate?  It's RAIN.  Well, after the rain has found numerous ways to ruin my life this summer, I can now safely say that I HATE RAIN.  Flooding, ruining beach days at the Cape, and now major flight delays!  Eff you rain, eff you.  Needless to say I am extremely bored...and my laptop battery is steadily dying...it's currently at 45%.  Fuck.  This sucks.  I can't wait for it to just be tomorrow!  I'll be at Penn, all moved in...much less stress...and boredom.  Sigh.

Everyone should own Hoobastank's new CD "Every Man for Himself."  Or at the very least, download this song:

    Inside of You - Hoobastank

    It seems so obvious
    Theres something up with us
    I swear I feel it
    From across the room.
So can I ask you this?
    Not to be forward, miss,
But I think I'll kill myself
    If I never know...

What do I have to do
    To get inside of you?
    To get inside of you?
Cuz I love the way you move,
    When I'm inside of you.
    When I'm inside of you...

Just ask and I will do
    Anything you want me to
    There is no limit
To how far I will go..
    And I'm sure I can't pretend
    To be a gentlemen..
    But before I began,
    I just gotta know,
    Just gotta know....

What do I have to do
    To get inside of you?
    To get inside of you?
Cuz I love the way you move,
    When I'm inside of you.
    When I'm inside of you...

For now I'll play the game
And I'm waiting for your move
    But I've got to say
    That I never lose..

What do I have to do
    To get inside of you?
    To get inside of you?
What do I have to do
    To get inside of you?
    To get inside of you?
Cuz I love the way you move,
    When I'm inside of you.
    When I'm inside of you...
    When I'm inside of you.
    You...
    You...
    You...
    When I'm inside of you...

In other news, I have two funfilled mornings at Shaw's ahead of me...7-1 Fri and then 7:30-1 Sat...so I'd better be a good boy and go to bed early tonight. ; D

Nobody even knows half the shit I am dealing with right now. And obviously that's not anyone's fault because I haven't really been talking about it (and have no desire to at the present time). All I ask is that people cut me some slack for the time being. Muchisimas gracias amigos.

    A Potentially Unpopular Announcement
Okay well...the recovery from this surgery is a bit more intense than the others because the doctor didn't stitch up the incision at all so that there will be virtually no chance of that damned cyster ever coming back again. Downside, this means no Canada for me.

Upside, we all just found out the Cape money is due earlier than we originally thought, so not going to Canada might salvage our financial status, temporarily at least. Also my dad said that he and my mom would make it up to me somehow (they basically forbade me to go because of the stupid incision) meaning that we could prolly take a trip up to Canada later in the summer (maybe sometime after the Cape?).

Now obviously if the rest of you guys still want to go, by all means go! I'd be happy to give you the information about the hotels I found etc.

I'm really sorry about the short notice of all this.

On a brighter note, I've discovered that I thoroughly enjoy listening to music in Spanish! Haha, I'm a huge dork, I know. But here are some lovely lyrics for you all:

All right, this entry is mainly for those going to Montreal on May 18th for the Alkaline Trio concert (i.e. Sammi, Ann Marie, Jenn, and Jake).

It'd be great if you guys could all let me know if you can DEFINITELY go to Montreal ASAP so I can get on booking the hotel and maybe getting the concert tickets too. Just leave a comment to this entry. Thanks guys! = )

Oh and my dad convinced my mom to let me go and I should be able to drive too (most likely). = D

Service with a Smile Word Count: 511
Smiling is a universal facial expression that showcases happiness. Yet, according to The Human Face documentary, people often fake or force facial expressions. Smiling reigns at the top of the list of facial expressions faked most often. Many companies actually require their employees to smile at customers in order to create a friendly atmosphere. I am intimately familiar with such policies since I have worked at Shaw’s Supermarket for almost three years. Greeting customers with a smile is a must for Shaw’s cashiers! However, I have certainly trudged into work when the last thing on my mind was smiling. But, after smiling at customers for a while and receiving many smiles in return, my mood began to improve. Eventually, I did not have to fake my smiles anymore; they were authentic. I actually wanted to smile and be friendly! Smiling and greeting my customers helped me keep my mind off of that which had put me in a bad mood in the first place. As a result, I found myself in a better mood. I now typically flash my pearly whites as I saunter through the sliding doors that lead to grocery paradise! I have learned first hand that faking a smile can actually make people feel better and improve their mood.

Many people may feel that faking a smile actually makes them feel worse rather than better. Some people are annoyed when they are put into a situation where they have to fake a smile and be nice to others. This could result in their mood worsening. These dreary drones might not be able to think about anything except that they do not want to smile. Consequently, they will have no chance of improving their mood because they will be stuck in a pit of perpetual pessimism. Additionally, faking smiles is like brushing teeth to some people. These charlatans smile so often that they do not even try to make them authentic. They superficially smile and the result is one of those painfully obvious pseudo-smiles found in yearbooks all across the country. No one is fooled by one of these sham smiles nor urged to reciprocate with a smile of their own.

These people are unfortunately missing the point of forcing, or faking, a smile. Companies do not force their employees to smile and greet customers solely for the customers’ benefit, but for the employees’ own benefit as well. Making a genuine attempt at smiling at customers will leave employees feeling more upbeat and positive. This Nirvana of sorts is achieved thanks to not only the act of smiling itself, but also the smiles reciprocated and the positive attitude exuded by the customers after receiving a friendly smile. A smile is very powerful. Not only can it brighten its possessor’s mood, but also the mood of those around this cheery chap. Sadly, employees may not always be in the mood to smile. Luckily, they can easily turn that frown upside down by simply making a genuine effort at smiling at their customers and embracing service with a smile.

    Thanks! =D

Okay so my writing portfolio is due Monday at noon, and I had to choose my two best essays for it and revise them extensively until I think they're pefect. I've already revised both of my essays several times and had different people read them over...so now I'm gonna post them here so that all of you lovely people can read em and leave comments if you see any areas that could be improved upon. =D I really hope that there aren't any typos after this many revisions...but we'll see! Haha.

Sean Duffy Revised Nestorian Order Essay – Final Draft 4/24/06
The Terrifying Toy Word Count: 522
I am not a very fearful person. I am not afraid of spiders, snakes, flying, or even dying. Most horror movies do not scare me either, with one exception. When I saw a commercial for a particular horror movie while watching TV with some friends, one of whom I was interested in dating at the time, I shrieked and hid under a blanket. This horror series that figuratively castrates me, turning me into a petrified little pansy, is the Chucky series. Just a mere glimpse of Chucky fills me with an irrational amount of terror as I cringe and seek cover.

One of the many reasons I fear Chucky so intensely is the simple fact that he is a doll that kills people. Who wouldn’t be afraid of a little toy that runs around killing people? As if this weren’t enough, the blood-curdling voice emanating from his disgusting mouth makes my heart beat out of my chest. Simply thinking about this demonic and purely evil voice originating from such a quick-moving little menace sends a shiver down my spine. Chucky may not be big and imposing in stature, but his small size and swiftness allow him to sneak up on anyone and attack when least expected. The near impossibility of fighting back against such a small, fast-moving killer is absolutely terrifying. In fact, I do not even know what Chucky is capable of doing, which makes him even more frightening to me! Since I have never seen a Chucky movie, my imagination runs wild, thinking up countless catastrophic deeds that he may be capable of committing. Perhaps if I actually sat down and watched one of the Chucky movies, I would not be so afraid of him. Unfortunately, this is a catch-22 because I am too frightened of that dastardly little doll to willingly sit down and watch one of his movies.

Chucky is certainly a creepy and cunning little doll, but the most frightening aspect of him to me is his petrifying appearance. One day, when I was a little boy, my brother and I decided that it was time for us to sleep in separate bedrooms. That night my brother attempted to sleep in the guest room, yet in that room lurked a terrifying clown-like doll. My brother could not sleep because of that doll, so he ended up coming back to our bedroom. I was determined to acquire my own room, so, despite my debilitating dread, I bravely survived a night in the doll’s lurid lair, claiming that room as my own. The main reason I was so scared of that doll was its creepy appearance; it had a sinister smile and wild red hair. Little did I know that later in my life, I would develop a phobic fear of a slightly more famous clown-like doll named Chucky. Just seeing Chucky's face makes me cringe. That ghostly pale menace’s petrifying eyes, crazy red hair, numerous scars, and devilish smirk nearly make me wet myself. I cannot even bear looking at pictures of that carnal creep, a fact my friends have taken advantage of on more than one occasion.
